2022 Recipient of the K-12 Earth Science Teacher of the Year Award: Lisa Taylor

The 2022 K-12 Earth Science Teacher of the Year Award was presented to Lisa Taylor, science teacher at Bethlehem Lutheran School in Lakewood, Colorado. Lisa’s 7th grade Earth Science course connects students to the natural world, coupling labs and outdoor field trips to make the course relevant. She uses the Front Range foothills as a natural laboratory. Lisa’s students test water samples for purity, salinity and hardness. They also test soils samples for permeability.

Lisa personally received $2000 to further her professional activities and her school received $2000 to be used for Earth Science curriculum as directed by Ms. Taylor. Lisa was recognized at the August 3, 2022 RMAG luncheon and was given a complimentary one-year membership to the RMAG, funded by the RMAG Foundation.
