The Labor Law Questions that Came Up During the Texas “Snowmageddon”

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed attorney and HR consultant Hessam Parzivand. Parzivand is a regular on the Price of Business show.

Texas recently experienced a historic snowmageddon which paralyzed its electric grid and made many basic actions impossible. In this interview, Hessam Parzivand and Kevin Price discuss the laws or lack thereof of laws in Texas that generally protect employees in weather situations. Parzivand covers a real life call he recently received from an employee and discusses the employment at-will doctrine. Very few limited exceptions exist to the idea that an employer can fire for no reason or any reason at all and both Parzivand and Price creatively attempt to stretch existing laws to allow protection for employees who cannot commute to work.

Parzivand is an attorney in Houston, Texas that focuses on labor law. He is a long time contributor on the Price of Business show. Learn more about him at www.Parzfirm.com
