Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Erika Gilbert.
Erika is the founder and president of Grune Heidi Farm Rescue Inc. Lakeland Florida. The organization’s mission is rescuing horses and educating the public about humane treatment. In addition to her full time day job, she rescues and rehabilitates, re-homes and adopts horses. Erika uses her 40+ years of equine and rescue experience to educate local high school, college veterinary tech students, and horse lovers to promote awareness of abuse, neglect, and the auction to slaughter pipeline. GHF vets on average about 50 adoption applications annually resulting in approximately 25 adoptions a year. The organization is funded primarily through generous donors, foundation contributions and Erika’s personal paycheck. Donations are used toward auction purchases, quarantine, dentals, vetting, farrier visits, and quality feed, hay and supplements. Horses are rescued from slaughter auctions. owner surrenders, and County Animal Control seizures. Grune Heidi Farm Rescue has earned a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency on GuideStar and has been awarded a 5-Star Status on Great Nonprofits for 10 years in a row!
